Since 1907, Bunting Bearings has manufactured, stocked and distributed bearing and material solutions for industrial applications. Today, Bunting combines U.S. casting, powder metallurgy and CNC machining operations with engineered plastic bearing options, stocked products and service support.

Multiple manufacturing paths. One application-first approach.

Bunting manufactures and supplies both cataloged and custom bearing solutions. Its published product range includes cast bronze bearings and stock materials, powdered metal bearings and components, Lube-Align mounted bearings, engineered plastic bearings and permanent mold products.

In-house casting, CNC machining and design capabilities allow the company to support standard components as well as drawing-based requirements. Product and material selection still begins with the operating conditions, dimensions and applicable customer specifications.

Company history

From an Ohio bronze company to Bunting Bearings, LLC.

The company’s published history spans founding, expansion, acquisitions and consolidation across several bearing and metals businesses.

1907

Bunting Brass & Bronze is founded.

The company begins in Alliance, Ohio.

1909

The business moves to Toledo.

Bunting Brass & Bronze relocates from Alliance to Toledo, Ohio.

1949

A Mansfield operation opens.

Barnes Manufacturing, later renamed B-Mold, opens in Mansfield, Ohio.

1952

Apex Bearing is founded.

Apex Bearing begins operations in Hudson, Ohio.

1955

Detroit Sintered Metals is acquired.

Bunting Brass & Bronze acquires Detroit Sintered Metals, which initially operates as a subsidiary.

1964

Powdered-metal operations join Bunting.

Detroit Sintered Metals begins operating as a Bunting Brass & Bronze facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

1968

NL Industries purchases the company.

Bunting Brass & Bronze retains its name under NL Industries ownership.

1972

Eagle-Picher expands its bearing operations.

Eagle-Picher Bearings and Metals Division acquires Masten Corporation and its Apex Bearing subsidiary.

1981

Eagle-Picher acquires Bunting.

Eagle-Picher purchases Bunting Brass & Bronze from NL Industries.

1982

The bearing businesses consolidate.

Eagle-Picher Bearings & Metals Division is consolidated and renamed Eagle-Picher Bearings Division.

1989

Bunting Bearings Corp. is formed.

Four officers purchase the Eagle-Picher Bearings Division and name it Bunting Bearings Corp.

1990

Holland becomes the corporate base.

A new Holland, Ohio facility is built for corporate offices and the national warehouse.

1998

Holland expands.

A 56,000-square-foot addition is completed, and machining from Delta and Mansfield is consolidated into Holland.

2002

The corporation restructures.

Bunting Bearings Corp. restructures to enhance operations and position the company for future growth.

2004

Bunting Bearings, LLC continues the operation.

Bearing Acquisition, LLC acquires the assets and rebrands the business as Bunting Bearings, LLC.

U.S. manufacturing network

Manufacturing, service and sales across five locations.

Bunting’s current centers page lists four manufacturing centers and two service/sales centers. Holland serves both groups; the published history also identifies it as the facility built for the corporate offices and national warehouse.

Bunting publishes its ISO certificate and product SDS documents for customer review. The company also states that its metal products are made in the United States.
